Where are you from?

I am a born and bred south Dublin ‘yaw’ and although my accent is ‘posh’ I certainly wouldn’t consider myself to be and wouldn’t associate myself with the stereotype that comes with growing up in Dublin 6…yawn!

Why did you decide to set up a medical recruitment company?

I worked for some very well-known names in medical recruitment and learned a lot. I definitely wasn’t always the best at taking advice from others and always being highly motivated, didn’t really need much micro or macro management, I knew what and where I wanted to be (I am however eternally grateful to those who gave me the opportunity and you know who you are). I think I was always destined to be a lone-wolf and to date, I haven’t regretted it one bit. Setting up your own company as the cliché goes, is definitely not for the faint hearted, you need resilience, perseverance and sheer bloody determination. There’s two things you’re doing in life and that’s buying or selling, the common denominator is people and they can really test you.

What do you love about recruitment?

I love the psychology aspect of recruitment, why people do what they do and why they do it. Dealing with both doctors and pharmacists at the best of times is challenging given their high IQ but in order to progress in life they say to surround yourself by those who are smarter than you. More recently I do take a lot of pride and joy being responsible for those I employ at Med Doc Healthcare and watching them grow. I’ll hold my hands up and say I haven’t always gotten it right but life is about learning and improving next time around.

Next or dream holiday destination?

A safari in Kenya (Masi Mara or Amboseli National Parks). Now more than ever those running volunteer organisations are really struggling. I’ve been so fortunate in life and thankful that I was reared in a good home, it would be nice to be able to spend my hard earned ‘fortunes’ on those who really need it and maybe meet David Attenborough. Plus who doesn’t like animals that could swallow you in one gulp.

What is your favourite hobby?

I love sports, rugby & football as well as other sports but what I love doing most is spending time with my German Shepherd Lola who is always a bundle of joy and great to come home to every day after a hard days work. With COVID-19 I have been doing some gardening and planting and even though Lola has decided to rip up my plants that have cost me a bomb, she’s still a gem!

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?

Fifa on the PS4 or Mario Kart – I was always half decent at both and would back myself to take on anyone, any time, any place. I’m also a dab hand (or so I think) at debating with a never say die attitude, I’ll just beat you into submission. Takers welcome…

What are three things on your bucket list?

  • Travel the world (South America, part of Asia, parts of the USA, the Maldives and Bali. There is other destinations but I don’t want to bore you any further…
  • Go on a Lions Tour and/or watch Ireland win the Rugby World Cup (if we don’t bottle it each time we are tagged favourites)
  • Get a ticket on Elon Musk’s first flight to the moon. I wasn’t old enough when Concorde flew from London to New York in a record time of 3 hours 30mins which would have been pretty awesome. Yes, I have a need for speed.

Where are you from?

I was born and bred in Tullamore and whilst I lived and worked for several years in the UK, it was always my plan to return home. I did move back to Ireland quite a few years ago, however it is only in the last year that I have finally made it ‘home to Tullamore’.

Why did you decide to join a medical recruitment company?

I have always worked in a healthcare setting, Medical Research and Development, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Sales, and General Practice Management. During my years managing a GP Surgery, I appreciated the difficulties sourcing and retaining good medical staff. Given the current shortage of GP’s in Ireland, sourcing them from abroad has become essential. When I saw my role advertised, I believed that I could bring a lot to the company and believed this would give me the new challenge that I was craving.

What do you love about recruitment?

If I have learned one thing from working with doctors for so long, it is that they are excellent at what they do, i.e. treating patients, however they don’t have the time or inclination to engage with much else. Therefore, the effort it takes for them to ‘recruit’ or ‘be recruited’ is best left to others. Working at Med Doc and Med Pharm allows me to use my experience to date to assist in all aspects of connecting the ideal employer with the ideal employee and taking care of everything in the background so that the process appears effortless to the doctors/pharmacists involved.

Next or dream holiday destination?

It might not seem like the most exotic destination, but my dream holiday destination is Venice. My husband surprised me with a trip there for my 40th (yes, a few years ago!) and it is the one place that I have been to that I want to return to. I think my life at the time was so hectic, that Venice provided me with some forced downtime! The fact that transport is either by foot or by boat, there is no choice but to operate at a slow pace and I think everyone needs that from time to time.

What is your favourite hobby?

Sport of any description. I have played gaelic football, camogie, volleyball, basketball, and soccer at competitive level, but my favourite one to play was Gaelic Football. I even donned the Green, White and Gold of Offaly in my younger days. I went on to play for a club in Watford in the UK and the friendships formed from my playing days have lasted a lifetime. So of course, now that I have hung up my boots, my favourite hobby is spending time with the friends I have made through playing sport.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a medal for?

‘Mammying’ I think I’d at least be on the podium! My greatest achievement in life is my 3 children who have all grown up to be decent human beings and that to me is one of the most important traits in a person…. Just be a decent person. The fact that they are each successful in their chosen careers is a bonus, and it didn’t just happen by chance. They put in a lot of hard graft. I like to think they have each inherited my work ethic which I have always told them is the most important attribute in an employee. Skills can be taught but attitude can’t.

What are three things on your bucket list?

  • A Caribbean cruise would be lovely.
  • One big giant family holiday to include spouse, children, siblings, nieces, nephews, partners etc. Don’t know who would pay for it but it would be great fun!
  • To live to 100 and get a cake with 100 candles and of course to be healthy enough to enjoy it.

Where are you from?

Originally, I am from a beautiful country in the heart of Europe – Lithuania. Growing up, I always had a dream to live in a big city. As much as I loved my country and my family, Lithuania seemed to be too small at that time for me, so I moved to London (yep, there is no place like London) and lived there for over 12 years. After experiencing big city life for that many years, I decided to cross the pond and move to Ireland and I am now living in Dublin.

What do you love about recruitment?

I think that it is important that any job you do, you are passionate about and it is not only about the payslip at the end of the month. Working in recruitment, connecting the right clients with the right candidates, helping people to find a dream job – definitely gives you the satisfaction of making a positive difference in someone’s life.

Next or dream holiday destination?

Next trip – Italy, Lake Como. As for my dream holiday destination…well, the dream would be to create a life that I would not have a need to take holidays!

What is your favourite hobby?

Traveling & reading. If I cannot travel or go to explore new cities – I would spend all day with a good book in my hands. Now that restrictions are lifted (thanks, Covid-19), I can now explore the beautiful Emerald Isle.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?

Cooking! I am all about the healthy life style and I love to experiment cooking vegetarian food and hosting big brunches/dinners for my beloved ones (trying my best not to poison them). I believe that good food & positive mind-set is truly the only most effective medicine.

What are three things on your bucket list?

  • To set up a therapy retreat farm, full of horses, where kids with autism could spend time with them.
  • Stay healthy, mindful & happy.
  • Visit every single country on the world map.

Where are you from?

I grew up in Southside of Dublin and made the controversial move to the Northside (shock.. horror) Myself and my husband bought a house in Castleknock within walking distance to the Phoenix Park where my three very active children love to visit and explore.

Why did you decide to work in a medical recruitment company?

It was working for Med Doc that was the attraction. It is a young, progressive company that has experienced significant growth in the past few years and by the looks of it has no ceiling in terms of expansion and progression.

What do you love about recruitment?

I love interacting with clients and candidates on a daily basis and listening to their needs. The satisfaction of being able to deliver for all concerned and to grow sustainable relationships that support the company’s growth. In addition, I get to work remotely…do not miss the M50 traffic.

Next or dream holiday destination?

I would love to return to the white sandy beaches of Barbardos where I got engaged. It was just like paradise and I would love to stay in the Sandy Lane Hotel and dine again at the amazing Cliff restaurant.

What is your favourite hobby?

I love athletics and my claim to fame was that I was an All-Ireland champion for track and cross-country. I continued my interest in running and nothing beats putting the air pods in and escaping into the fresh air for a 5km jog in the Phoenix Park and maybe being chased by the deer once or twice..

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?

Home Schooling…..not that I ever want to return to it. Home schooling my three young children and working remotely full time was definitely not for the faint hearted. It was a military operation of pure determination. I certainly have a new appreciation for teachers.

What are three things on your bucket list?

  • Return to the vineyards of Napa Valley, California, as I definitely did not appreciate the wine tasting when I was there after college.
  • Have a cosmopolitan with Sarah Jessica Parker
  • Stay in the 7 star Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai and see if this 24 karate gold coffee lives up to its reputation.

Where are you from?

I was born in Durban (Kwa-Zulu Natal), South Africa in a hospital on the beach front. My family is both South African and Italian. This would make me a South African Italian, but truly a South African at heart. I have called Ireland home for the past 17 years where I met my wife and started a beautiful family.

What do you love about recruitment?

I find working in a medical recruitment company a rewarding career for me, as I am passionate about healthcare and helping professionals find the right roles to make a difference in the medical field and in peoples life’s.

Next or dream holiday destination?

In all honesty, I do not have a dream holiday destination. My dream “holiday” would be a permanent one with my family living next to a stream in a log cabin. I would appreciate the cooking of meals out on the fire place, and living off the land.

The idea of my wife, daughter and I being able to ride a horse through the forest, even though I am not a fan of horse riding, but seeing them be happy and enjoying every moment with my family by side is my dream holiday destination.

What is your favourite hobby?

I have to look into my South African side and say I am a fan of Sea swimming. In Ireland I have reached a point that even in the middle of winter I am able to go for a swim, without a wet suite now. The feeling is exhilarating and the moment unforgettable, definitely a great way to start my week.

My family and I try to swim in a different beach every time we go, and my 4-year-old daughter and 6-year old son are slowly getting braver to go further into the water, every time.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a medal for?

I would definitely say a Braai (BBQ) competition. I am a self-proclaimed Braai master, as we call it in South Africa.

It would be called BBQ here in Ireland. I am fascinated with both direct and indirect cooking methods and spending hours in achieving great results, most of the time. If this makes no sense to you, ask me, but I warn you, I may never stop speaking about it.

What are three things on your bucket list?

  • Learn to cook a signature dish from every continent
  • Plan a family reunion with my family all around the world
  • Get a motorcycle-not just any one but one that looks like a Harley Davidson
