Rural medicine is a 24/7 job, most GP’s will work Monday – Friday 9am-5pm and do roughly 2 nights on-call per week. In addition to this, you are expected to be at the end of the phone as needed. It is generally not as busy as a city practice but it requires dedication and a particular type of GP who thrive in these environments. Med Doc work with various private and HSE primary care GP practices around Ireland who are always on the look-out for locum, contract and permanent GP’s to fill arising vacancies.
