Our client is based in Donegal and is looking to recruit Triage Nurses for their remote Telemedicine Triage Nurse vacancies. The Telemedicine Triage Nurse is to be a primary point of contact for our patients through online consultations, whereby you assess patients’ conditions to determine the type of medical assistance they require. You will be responsible for contributing towards a positive patient and clinician experience on telemedicine.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • As a Triage Nurse, you will be required to provide initial video / audio consultations with patients before they may be escalated to one our telemedicine doctors
  • This will include liaising with patients and recording their vital signs, determining the symptoms and severity of the patient’s illness and/or injury, and talking with the patient about his or her condition
  • You are expected to exercise good clinical judgement and put patient safety first in the management of patients on the telehealth platform including the ability to interpret subtle indications such as changes in patients’ breathing, tone of voice, hesitations or incomplete responses
  • You will be required to monitor the complaints presented on the platform(s) and manage any emergencies which may arise
  • You must provide clear patient information and education and give the patient advice on handling their situation
  • Provide excellence in customer service, including addressing patients in a clear and pleasant voice
  • Whilst providing these online consultations, you will be required to follow telemedicine’s clinical guidelines and work within the scope of service, whilst keeping best practice in mind. You will be required to inform each patient of the limitations of telehealth, as well as relevant safety netting, red flags and follow-ups (if required) for every consultation
  • Attend and participate in fortnightly clinical meetings and ad hoc as required
  • Case notes should comply with best practice with the addition of extra annotation associated with the safe provision of telemedicine
  • To work collaboratively with the Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director on all aspects of clinical quality
  • Participate in training both in the management of the digital interface and in providing the extra safety features associated with digital consultations
  • Provide evidence of continuing medical education
  • Keep up to date with medical developments, new drugs, treatments and medications
  • At all times, you should maintain confidentiality and impartiality and respect the privacy and dignity of the patient
  • Perform ad hoc non-clinical tasks from time to time
  • Advocate for telehealth and best practice in line with telemedicine policies and procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or similar required – Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses (NMBI) or be entitled to be registered
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Ability to make quick decisions, multitask and handle stress
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a high level of compassion
  • Strong administration skills
  • Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
  • Competent in computer applications
  • Strong listening and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to lead but also work as part of a team
